POEMS IN THE KEY OF FJD
Poems in the Key of FJD is a timeless archive of my lyrical loves, poetry, and the imagery birthed from its inspiration.
“Stay Home, Odysseus” by Faithe J. Day
I don’t want to be a lighthouse for dark men
Men who see the golden beam streaming from my heart
As a calling to save a safe harbor
I feel more like a Siren
Beckoning wayward travelers to crash and burn
On the shores of my rocky mounds,
Serves them right.
To steal away to the song of a Siren
When they should be sailing home to their wives
The Best Laid Plans of Men and Minotaurs by Faithe J. Day
There are no safe paths to my heart.
No oracles, no myths, no torch freshly lit.
Just winding trails created to confuse
And concoct the most elaborate ruse.
A labyrinth so complex
that even red string,
would soon confess
That Minotaur is best left to rest.
The Butterfly/Collector Poems
Poetamorphosis by Faithe J. Day
The morning after
Wet from the dance floor
You called me
Ladybug
And said that I would eat you whole
Then metabolize your soul
Like a very hungry caterpillar,
Starved for leaves of grass.
Specimen #444: The Butterfly Catcher
Flying through life
I can feel the heat
Of an evil eye
And greedy hands
Waiting in the woods
To grab and tag
A being
He does not own
Under the guise of
Conservation
But the goal of
Confinement
Spiritual Bath by FJDay
If I could pray you away
I Would
If I would see your face
I Should
If I should leave or stay
I Could
I Would
I Should
